It’s a sad, sad day for the motorsport community.
Tributes have come flooding in for motorcycle stuntman Alex Harvill after he died while attempting a world record jump.
Daredevil Harvill was attempting to jump a whopping 351 feet off a ramp at the Moses Lake Airshow in Washington when he came up agonisingly short.
Slightly misjudging his jump, Harvill’s bike ended up hitting the giant dirt mound which sent him flying over his handlebars after the impact.
It’s understood he was rushed to hospital but he sadly died from his injuries.
He was just 28 years of age.
Harvill’s tragic passing comes just one month after the birth of his second child.
Friends, family and fans took to social media to share their condolences while also paying their respects.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to Alex’s family, friends and loved ones,” the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The Moses Lake Airshow also made a touching tribute to one of their own.
A statement read: “We regret to report today at our first event of the airshow – the Guinness World Record Jump Attempt, Alex Harvill was injured during his warm-up before the jump and has been taken to the hospital. We do not have more information at this time regarding the incident.
“Our hearts are with Alex and his family, and wish him a speedy recovery. All proceeds from today’s jump will be donated to Alex to contribute to his medical expenses.”
