Paul Pierce’s time with ESPN has come to an end.
The Boston Celtics legend has reportedly been fired by the broadcasting giants after a recent Instagram Live video went viral for all the wrong reasons.
According to Front Office Sports’ Michael McCarthy, Pierce’s former employers weren’t too happy after the popular analyst went live to his followers from a strip club.
The original clip has since been deleted but it’s understood Pierce filmed himself smoking and drinking while partying in a room with exotic dancers.
“ESPN was particularly miffed that Pierce chose to put the videos out on his own accord,” a report from The New York Post said.
“If he had been filmed doing the same activities and they became public by someone else, he may have kept his job.”
A bunch of current NBA stars reacted to the video as it was posted too.
Los Angeles Lakers player Kyle Kuzma tweeted: “Paul pierce a sicko.”
While Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal added: “Forgot to hit that close friends.”
ESPN is yet to comment on Pierce’s departure.
But the man himself has finally come out and had his say – well, sort of.
After news broke of his exit, the 43-year-old took to Instagram Live again to react.
In a video posted on his channels, Pierce simply chuckles to himself with the caption: “Big Things coming soon stay tuned make sure you smile.”
The 2008 NBA champion has been a part of ESPN’s commentary team since his retirement from basketball in 2017.
