When it comes to playing cards within a casino setting, there are a few games for you to choose from, including Blackjack, just to name one. But which card game is best to play here?
Whether you’re playing a card game in person at a casino venue, or online within a virtual game, Blackjack is a go-to for numerous players around the world. With this in mind, we wanted to explore a little further into the game to determine if it’s the best classic card game to play.
Scroll on, to shuffle the decks and discover if it’s best.
Blackjack
Originating in France and first known as Vingt-et-Un, this iconic card game has travelled around the world since its birth to become a gaming sensation in casinos up and down the lands.
With the game consisting of playing cards, a dealer and a player, as well as betting chips, of course, it doesn’t require anything else.
When playing, anyone sitting around the Blackjack table has no impact on your game. Any game of Blackjack is played between you and the dealer. To win, you must hold a hand of cards with a value of 21, also known as a Blackjack, or under. If your total exceeds 21, you’ll lose instantly.
To begin, the dealer will issue two cards to you, face up, whilst dealing two to themselves, one face up, the other facedown. It’s here where you’ll need to sum up your two cards to find your hand value.
Numbered cards within the deck hold the value of the number displayed on them, whereas the royals (Jack, Queen and King) hold a value of 10, and the Aces have two values – one and 11.
After totalling your cards up, if you feel you could add another card to your hand to get closer to, or bang-on 21, you can ask the dealer to add another card to your hand. If this card takes your value over 21, however, you lose.
Once you’re happy with your hand – either your two cards or any additional cards – let the dealer know. When happy with your hand, the dealer will then, and only then, turn over their facedown card.
The dealer will total up their hand to find their value and can add another card to their deck if they feel the need. If their hand totals over 21, or beneath your hand value under 21, you win.
In the event of both you and the dealer reaching 21, or holding the same valued hand, a tie is called and you will neither lose nor win, but will be given back your wager.
Which is best?
At the end of the day, Blackjack has been classed as a casino classic, but whether or not it’s the best classic card game to play isn’t for us to say. However, what we will say is – the game that’s best is down to each and every player. If a player decides they prefer one game over the other, because maybe it suits their gameplay style etc, that’s all that matters.
